Why do we celebrate drug addicts?

There have been so many shows and TV moments “honoring” Heath Ledger. The dude was in one or two halfway decent movies, but we are expected to revere him even though he sets a terrible example for young people. He chose drugs over his family and he was an irresponsible parent, so why do we need to honor him? People are acting as if the drugs he took were someone else’s fault, yet there are so many PSA’s telling kids to CHOOSE to stay off drugs. I don’t get it. Why can’t we tell the truth about this guy and stop celebrating him?

i think that’s just the tv stations and media outlets that think that is what people want to hear. plus drug sales make a lot moneyfor some established people that have good connections and so they spread their influence

I hear what you’re saying. I hate when drug use is glorified as well. And you’re right, Ledger’s death shouldn’t be noted as an honorable death, like natural causes or untimely, he decided to get into drugs. I mean, it is stupid how people keep getting into drugs, knowing that it can kill them. Yet many more will allow drugs to come into their lives. That’s why I look at it like this, smart people never get started with drugs, stupid people do, and that sounds blunt and plenty of users will be pissed off by that, but I don’t care. Why would anyone want to affect their mental and physical capabilities with drugs? They can’t care about themselves or life.
