I found a small amber vial in my Dad’s pocket. Could this be drug related?

I recently found a small amber vial (about 1″ tall and 1/2″ in diameter) in my dad’s pocket as I was doing laundry. I know my dad has had drug issues in the past but I’ve always thought they were long in his past. I was curious as to what could have been in the bottle so I opened it and it was completely empty other than there was a white caked residue around the top were the lid was on and inside the neck of the vial. I figured whatever the substance was just had gotten wet from the wash and formed around the lid. I have heard that cocaine will numb your tongue if you tasted it. So I put a bit on my tongue – no numb feeling, but it just felt cool like menthol and was tasteless. I am suspicious that cocaine was possibly in the bottle but I do not know what cocaine is typically stored in. Do you think the vial is drug related?

You probably shouldn’t have put and unknown white powder on your tongue. It might be drug related, but coke is not kept in vials, crack and crystal meth sometimes are.

Has he had a heart attack of heart surgery? People carry their nitro glycerin in small brown vials and it is white and usually some of it gathers around as powder inside

As a recovering cocaine addict myself, I can tell you that vials such as the one you mentioned finding are commonly used to store small (less than a gram) amounts of powdered cocaine intended for personal use. You can get a drug test kit to test the substance you found and you can get urine drug test kits on web to see if he is lying to you. Drug addicts in active addiction will lie quite often when confronted about their drug use. I would assume he is using cocaine…CM

Does your Dad have Heart problems? nitro tabs come in a small vial and have a menthol taste. They will also give you a headache because they make all your blood vessels widen.
